Why #Hashtags Matter

Hashtags are an essential part of your social media strategy, as well as an integral portion of your Linqia program. Utilizing the program hashtag helps archive your post, enhances your visibility with the brand, and can lead readers outside your audience to your feed. Beyond your program hashtags, additional hashtags help boost engagement across your social channels. Trending hashtags also help you connect with likeminded influencers and your target audience. Meanwhile, connecting with existing topics of conversation helps you build your personal brand and relationships concurrently. Be sure to research a hashtag before implementing it within your social strategy to see whether it's both popular and a true fit for your personal brand!

Here are a few examples of which types of hashtags (and tags!) to use and why they matter:

1. Use The Program Hashtag

Utilizing the program hashtag helps archive your post, enhances your visibility with the brand, and can lead readers outside your audience back to your feed. Since hashtags categorize content, using the program hashtag not only connects you to the brand, but also to audience members who are especially invested in the program's initiative.

2. Tag The Brand

In addition to using relevant program hashtags, remember to tag the brand's handle within the caption of all of your social posts. Tagging the brand makes it easy for your audience to click through to the brand's social pages, follow, and engage their branded content. It will also boost your chances of the brand noticing your work and repurposing your content!

3. Use Additional Related Hashtags

You can also use additional related hashtags to draw in new audiences interested in related topics of interest.

  • Food: #Instafood, #FoodPics, #DailyFoodFeed, #FoodForFoodies, #Eatstagram
  • Home & Garden: #HomeDecor, #Interiors, #InteriorDesign, #DesignBlog, #HomeDecorIdeas
  • Lifestyle: #LifestyleBlog, #MomentsLikeThese, #ThatsDarling
  • Fashion: #Fashion, #OOTD, #WhatIWore, #InstaFashion, #WIW
  • Trending Seasonal Tags: #Holidays, #GiftingSeason, #ValentinesDay
  • Men: #MaleBloggers, #MensStyle, #MensFashion, #MenWithStyle, #MenWithClass
  • Days of the Week: #MusicMonday, #TuesdayTreat, #WellnessWednesday, #SundayFunday
  • Teasers: #OnTheBlog

4. Use Tags To Disclose

According to the FTC Endorsement Guidelines, hashtags are also a quick and effective method for disclosing your sponsorship. Disclosure should be written clearly and visibly within the caption itself using hashtags #ad, #paid, or #sponsored.  Avoid putting disclosure in the comments or burying disclosure among other hashtags. Avoid ambiguous or unclear hashtags like #spon, #sp, or #collaboration.
